Squid Proxy Server – Date and Time based restriction using ACL : time

Squid Proxy is a caching proxy for the Web supporting HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and more. It reduces bandwidth and improves response times by caching and reusing

Date and Time (time)
You can block the requests made by the users based on the date and time, to do that you have to use the directive called “aclname time”, below are some examples:

acl aclname time [day-abbreviations] [h1:m1-h2:m2]

Day Abbreviations

  • S – Sunday
  • M – Monday
  • T – Tuesday
  • W – Wednesday
  • H -Thursday
  • F – Friday
  • A – Saturday
  • D – Weekdays (Monday – Friday)


acl LunchHr  time 12:00-13:00
acl OfficeHr time D 09:00-17:00
